Special Moments

We all want to feel important sometimes and your children aren’t an exception to that feeling. So how can you make your children feel important? You may be thinking that they already know how important they are to you because you love them so much. Although deep down they do know how much you care about them, it’s still a good idea to do little things to remind them and show them how important they are in your life. Try out these small things you can do to make your child feel extra special.

– Leave a note in their lunchbox

Write a cute post-it note with a sweet quote or just tell them how awesome they are. When they are at school and it’s their lunchtime, they will open up their lunch box and see your cute message. They will be very happy to know that you went an extra mile to make their lunchtime special and they will probably be missing you while they are at school so this small gesture will make them feel more connected to you.

– Brag about them to your friends or partners and let them overhear you

They will be so pleased to hear you telling other people how proud you are of them and this will reinforce any good behaviour you are praising them for.

– Share memories

Sharing memories is a great way to build a stronger connection. You can tell them about when you were a baby or you were the same age as them or you can share memories of them when they were younger. They will love hearing about themselves.

– Eat dinner together

Mealtime is a crucial part of any family. It is where you get to sit down and enjoy some good food together while discussing each others day. Make it a no phone zone and just enjoy each other company.

– Ask questions

Not the usual how was your day and you stop there. Go into detail, ask them what they learned at school, did they enjoy it, how their friend is and what was difficult at school. Be interested in their life and don’t just ask for the sake of asking a question but ask to actually listen.

– Ask your child for their opinion

When you ask for their opinion you will show them, that you value their input which will probably make them very happy. It obviously doesn’t need to be on big things but small things that you might be debating about will allow you and your child to explore options together and work as a team to solve your problems.

There are plenty more things you can do to show your children just how important they are. Small things like singing together, cuddling before bedtime and starting a hobby together are all good ways to create a stronger bond
